I spent last Saturday visiting an old friend in the hospital. You see he has been battling cancer for some time now. I will not lie the prognosis in not good. It is hard to watch people and there families live through cancer. I know first hand.

This friend is the Uncle of my best friend, Lady Red. I met Uncle G and his wife and family, as I will call him not long after meeting Lady Red almost twenty-five years ago. This was after Corvette and I had moved from the concrete jungle here to the Desert Southwest. We had no family here and Uncle G and family took us in and included our family in holidays and other family events. They did not have to do this, but they did because that is the kind of people they are.

There were numerous BBQs and Easter egg hunts. One time Uncle G, his wife and Lady Red and her guy at the time all went out to a popular western nightspot here. It was pretty crowded and I was standing next to Corvette, but for whatever reason I walked to another spot. Corvette did not about this and he reached out to grab my butt and instead grabbed Uncle G’s wife’s butt. It really was an honest mistake and thank God, everyone was cool about because Uncle G’s wife knew I had just been standing there.

Standing in the room on Saturday watching Uncle G and his family was heartbreaking, but also it was heartwarming to see the love in that room. Love that I am honored to be a part of then and today. I know a lot of you do not know who Uncle G is, but please say a prayer for Uncle G. I am sure God knows whom I am talking about.
